Celebrating another milestone completed at the Greensand CO₂ Terminal the "Danish way".
Last week, we celebrated the completion of the concrete foundation for the new CO₂ terminal at Port Esbjerg – marked in the most Danish way possible: A “Pølsevogn" with hot dogs and chocolate milk at the topping-out ceremony.
Over the past two months, our partners have made steady progress on-site, completing the required ground and concrete works. With the foundation now ready, we move one step closer to commissioning the full CCS value chain from capture to storage.
The terminal will play a central role in the Greensand Future project – temporarily storing CO₂ captured at Danish biogas plants before it is transported offshore for safe and permanent storage beneath the seabed of the Danish North Sea.
Greensand expects to initiate large scale commercial storage by mid-2026 and is expected to become the first fully operational offshore CO2 storage site in the EU intended to mitigate climate change.
