International media offshore with Greensand.
Today, we had the pleasure of taking journalists from BBC News, The Associated Press, AFP, ARD, Scanpix and Ritzaus Bureau offshore to the Siri platform in the Danish part of the North Sea – the highlight of a two-day deep dive into Greensand.
On the platform, the journalists interviewed Mads Gade, CEO INEOS Energy, Europe, and Peter Bjerre, Maintenance Manager on Siri. They also gained insight into how we are reversing the flow in the existing offshore infrastructure, enabling safe and permanent CO₂ storage from mid-2026.
Ahead of the offshore visit, ARD and AFP explored key onshore infrastructure, including the new CO₂ terminal at Port Esbjerg and Bigadan’s liquefaction facility, offering additional insight into the onshore steps of the CO₂ value chain.
When operations begin, Greensand will initially be able to store 400,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year – and is expected to become the first fully operational offshore CO₂ storage site in the EU intended to mitigate climate change.
A big thank you to all five media outlets for their strong interest in the project.
We look forward to seeing your reporting and to continuing the dialogue as the momentum builds.
