Steel, pressure and precision - another step forward for Carbon Destroyer 1!

Earlier this month the first of eight CO₂ storage tanks for Carbon Destroyer 1 was successfully pressure tested at our partner Geldof (Engicon nv).

Shortly after, tank number two underwent heat treatment - a critical step where the entire tank is enclosed and gradually heated to ensure long-term strength and integrity. Each tank will be installed on board Carbon Destroyer 1 later this year and will carry liquefied CO₂.

As the first dedicated offshore CO₂ carrier built in the EU, Carbon Destroyer 1 is being constructed at Royal Niestern Sander in the Netherlands - a result of strong collaboration between Royal Wagenborg and INEOS Energy.

Every component counts as we build out the full CCS value chain - from capture to permanent offshore storage in the Danish North Sea.
